Withers for Warriors is seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Horse Caregivers. In this role, volunteers will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of rescued horses by assisting with their care and enrichment. No prior horse experience is required, as training will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who love animals and want to contribute to their well-being. This is an evergreen volunteering opportunity and will be filled on an as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the feeding and watering of horses, ensuring they receive the proper diet and hydration.
- Participate in grooming activities, including brushing, mane and tail care, and hoof cleaning.
- Support the organization with maintenance tasks, such as organizing supplies.
- Engage in horse enrichment activities, such as leading horses on walks or spending time with them in their stalls.
- Observe and report any unusual behavior or health concerns to the sanctuary staff.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times to ensure the well-being of both volunteers and horses.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support the mission of the organization.
Qualifications:
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute to the care of rescued horses.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions, as well as work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to scheduled volunteer shifts.
- Prior experience with horses is a plus, but not required, as training will be provided.
