”Rusty” is a very sweet & good-natured older gelding. We first met him through a fellow equine rescue group, L.E.A.N. (Local Equine Assistance Network), where we fell in love. From the moment we first laid eyes on this beautiful boy, missing an eye and scarred from who knows what, we knew we wanted him to join our therapy herd. A few short months later we were allowed the privilege of adopting him. He is a special boy with a large fan club among the equine vet team at Desert Pines Equine, who donated several hours, & surgeries, to try to save his damaged eye. So the L.E.A.N. team was very selective about where this guy would land.

As a beloved member of our family, we have committed to giving him a sanctuary retirement home with our program where he occasionally facilitates Equine Assisted Therapeutic Activities with licensed therapists. Just being in his presence helps people in struggle reconnect and begin a new chapter of healing. He is a truly amazing equine citizen whom we are proud to call ours.
